Sports Massage

Sports Massage encourages better flexibility, reduces muscular tension and scar tissue, and increases circulation. It is not just for sporting people. It can benefit office workers
who spend long periods sitting, people with postural problems and repetitive strain sufferers.

  • Deep Tissue Massage: Massage techniques enhance elimination of metabolic by-products of exercise and maximise the supply of nutrients & oxygen by stimulating blood circulation. Neuromuscular & soft tissue relief help alleviate pain in specific areas, stretch & relax muscle tissue and break down scar tissue.
  • Postural Assessment: When an injury occurs in one area, it will almost certainly cause misalignment in the musculoskeletal system. Secondary injuries and muscle weakness are common after carrying an injury for some time.
  • Stretching: as a follow up stretching exercises between treatments are also recommended to aid recovery and help prevent further injury.
  • Post Care Advice: after a treatment specific progressive exercises will be provided to help strengthen the correct muscles and speed up recovery from injury.

Swedish Massage: variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Other possible benefits include stimulation of circulation, an increase in muscle tone, and a balance of the musculo-skeletal systems. The usual sequence in which a swedish massage strokes are conducted are Effleurage, Petrissage, Friction, Vibration, Percussion, and finally passive and active movements (bending and stretching). A gentler form of massage than deep tissue or sports massage that will leave you feeling relaxed and ready for a good sleep.

Massage Testimonials:

Thanks to regular sports massages from Rob, I am now able to partake in more intensive training than I could before as my back muscles were always constantly tight and my shoulders were too painful due to excessive use in various pursuits. I used to think it was normal to ache all the time and have tight muscles when doing a lot of training. My first massage was actually to sort out a painful IT band that I had from running training and since then I have had regular massages on my back and shoulders as well to allow me to continue to run, row, and just generally keep fit. I can’t believe I left it so long to start getting massages. It makes recovery from exercise so much quicker! Thanks Rob!

” If you have aching muscles or a sports injury, I would recommend the sports massage. After unsuccessful Chiro and Physio treatments I had a sports massage by Rob and have been exercising pain free ever since. Not only do you get an excellent massage, Rob also gives posture, exercise and nutritional advice at the same time.”
